In this poster (original by Francisco Tamagno) from 1896 titled "Absinthe Cusenier Oxygenée - It's my health", we see a man, in a bar with Art Nouveau decoration, performing the French absinthe ritual: the absinthe is in the bottom of the glass, a perforated absinthe spoon filled with sugar is placed flat on the rim of the glass, the man pours very pure ice water drop by drop into the absinthe. Sugar is traditionally used to offset the bitter taste of absinthe. A woman observes the scene through a window, the man seems happy to show her this ritual.

This print has been restored to its original full detail and full color, Belle Époque appearance. Compare to posters of this subject which are from the low-res original source.
